Epithelial Tissue
Epithelial tissue is characterized by the fact it is found in sheets of cells that either cover or line various organs. There are also some specialized Epithelial tissues that make up different glands in the human body. So one key feature of Epithelial tissue is that it must always be 'exposed', that means one side of the tissue must be free and not touching any other tissue. Some examples of this are the Simple Squamous epithelium found lining the inside of the lungs (exposed surface is touching the air that we breath in) and the Stratified Squamous epithelium found covering our bodies (the external surface of our skin).
