Overview of Skeletal Anatomy
The skeleton is divided into two main sections, the Axial skeleton and the Appendicular skeleton.
The Axial skeleton is your main core. It is comprised of the bones of the skull, the vertebrae, the ribs and the sternum. You can think of these bones as the central core of your body or the axis of your body.
The Appendicular skeleton are the bones that connect to your Axial skeleton. These bones are the shoulders and arms, as well as the hips and legs. The Appendicular skeleton is what really allows for most of your movement since it comprises the limbs of the body.
In this lab you will be going through the bones of the body one section at a time. Use this lab and your book to help you learn the bones.
