In Fall 2005 we are required to do formal assessment of ENG101. Every ENG101 section will need to be assessed. During the summer, via e-mail, full-time and part-time ENG101 instructors will receive an electronic copy of the assessment rubric, and explanations, via college e-mail. Before summer is over, Norm Gayford—the volunteer ‘clearinghouse person’ for English assessment—will offer at least one or two live briefings for any and all ENG101 instructors. A briefing will also be offered during PAD week. You must build the assessment into your Fall 2005 syllabus. See course objective #5 in the ENG101 Course Objectives. Please contact Norm with any questions.
