Welcome to my homepage, or "howdy" as I used to say as a grad.
student in Kansas.
Originally from Ohio, I attended (after
spending a bit of time at Ohio University, The University of the Americas, and CIDOC) Ohio State University, where I received a
B.A. in Humanities. After a two-year pause working as a night watchman in Maine and as a warehouser in Oberlin,
Ohio, it was off to Emporia State University in Kansas and an M.A. in
English. Of course, my friends took me to the Opie Chicken House and told me
the WIZARD OF OZ was filmed at a nearby farm, and, of course, I believed them.
I have since taught at the University of
Minnesota, Morris (where Marvin Moser and I invented Sufi Disco Dancing);
Pioneer Community College in KCMO (later absorbed by Penn Valley CC); the University of Oregon; and since 1988, at
Genesee Community College.
